Academic Integrity policy
In the process of completing assignments and projects for courses, students are expected to uphold the principles of academic integrity. This means that students are responsible for the entirety of their work and must ensure that, unless otherwise stated, the ideas, words, materials, and craftsmanship are their own original creation. When writing, if students’ reference or use information or opinions from external sources without proper acknowledgement, either within the body of the text or through properly cited references, and fail to use quotation marks when necessary, or if they fail to acknowledge borrowed work, it would be considered as presenting the work, words, or ideas of others as their own. Engaging in such acts goes against the principles of responsible scholarship and is considered dishonest. Similarly, receiving or aiding on tests, examinations, or any other assigned work that is intended to be completed independently or authentically is also a violation of academic integrity.
If a student is found to have dishonestly completed and submitted work as their own, the teacher has the discretion to award no credit (a zero) for that particular assignment. In such cases, the teacher may also require the student to revise and resubmit the assignment for evaluation, but the new grade attained may not replace the zero received for the initial attempt. Moreover, if a student repeatedly plagiarizes graded work, it may result in their withdrawal from the course by Bridges to Opportunity Academy Administration, without any credit being granted.
The Academic Integrity Policy aims to foster a culture of honesty, integrity, and academic excellence among students and ensure a fair and just assessment process.
